Portland’s Alela Diane has a warmth
about her and a sense of the organic or natural that is utterly compelling. New
single ‘Moves Us Blind’ has a soft piano riff at it’s heart that is embellished
with forlorn guitars and reluctant drums which all serve as a bed of twigs and
moss upon which to lay down the powerfully fragile voice of Alela Diane. Here
we have a voice that is timeless applied to a melody and arrangement that could
have come out of the Lennon or Mitchell song books and that marriage is as
perfect as all those little moments that nature throws up – the smell of the
sea on the breeze, light dappling through spring leaves or feel of grass
between your toes.
