Now, normally, I can’t stand
songs that stand with a “Lalalala” but I’m going to make an exception here for
a couple of reasons. Firstly, I’ll allow it because ‘Weekend’ is the debut
release from Perth quintet ‘Parliamo’ so you’ve got to give them a chance to
warm up. Secondly, it’s getting through because it’s a an absolute banger of an
indie-pop stomper in the vein of Paolo Nutini, the View, the Supernaturals,
Chay Snowdon or 60Ft Dolls. And finally I’m going to let this pass because just
look at them – they’re all about 12!? Not a beard between them and one of
them’s wearing a yellow denim jacket but between them (and inbetween double PE
and double Maths) they’ve managed to knock out an anthem for the summer. So,
everyone else, pay attention – Parliamo have got their priorities right and you
all need to pay attention to what they’re doing. Keep on at it lads.
