Birmingham rockers Blue Nation
are back with new single ‘Rich Girl’ and I’m already excited. The retro vibes
in the video (from old board games, Vespas and the clothes to the white screen
backdrop) are equalled only by the song itself with its throbbing, grinding
bass, snarling guitars and pile-driver drums. Stick on some hugely impressive hoary
vocals courtesy of frontman Neil Murdoch and you can see why I was so excited.
If you see these guys supporting the likes of Reef or Ocean Colour Scene any
time soon then don’t be surprised but, equally, don’t expect them to stop there
– these guys have the sound and the style to go much further than just being
the opening act.
