KAVES – SINGLE REVIEW

Kaves – 27
Kaves - 27

Release Date: Out Now

Being less than a year old, I wasn’t expecting much from this debut release by Kaves. It turns out, however, that ‘27’ is a storming debut track and one that should have folk flooding East to their native Norwich to catch the band while they’re still fresh. Opening up with an angular rhythm section that reminds me of early Arctic Monkeys, the track soon picks up pace and confidence and we settle in to a style that is somewhere between vintage Franz Ferdinand, Vampire Weekend, Hot Hot Heat and Lush but with slick enough production to be attractive to the US markets which is a rare mix. Kaves may be young in band years but they’ve got a keen eye for a melody, a knack for a hook and a fresh energy that is infectious. An extremely strong debut, no doubt.
