ALELA DIANE – SINGLE REVIEW

Alela Diane – Ether & Wood (All Points Music)
Alela Diana - Ether & Wood

Release Date: Out Now

Alela Diane is a singer-songwriter from Portland that I’m coming to late but it’s better to be late than to never arrive, right? ‘Ether & Wood’ is a piano fuelled ballad full of loneliness and peace that speaks of a house in the middle of nowhere on a day with no breeze. As the song builds to include a steady beat and gentle guitar notes, we are treated to a thing of beauty in the Thea Gilmore or Indigo Girls spectrum of music and that’s a place I do so love to visit. Diane’s voice is pure, honest and rich in tone which arrests the listener and, if I’m honest, brings a tear to the eye. This is the kind of song that could bring a rowdy bar to heel and, by the end, if you haven’t reached inside of yourself to find some long-buried emotion then you might be dead on the inside. Simple, brilliant and utterly, utterly beautiful.
