CHLOE HOWL – SINGLE REVIEW

Chloe Howl – Do It Alone
Chloe Howl - Do It Alone

Release Date: Out Now

On Chloe Howl’s Twitter profile, it simply says, “buy my song so I can buy more Nandos”. Despite my hatred for Nandos, this statement makes me love her immediately for boiling the whole idea of creation down to it’s essence. Sure, you want to create something worthwhile and memorable but at the end of the day you still need chicken. ‘Do It Alone’ should garner Howl a few meals at the very least if only the video which basically sees our heroine twatting about in corner shops and on the top of the bus with a couple of mates. Looking like Kate Nash’s angrier younger sister, Howl brings a slick soul-pop voice and classy, moody synth melodies that hit hard and stay fresh until the end. This would stand up next to Jess Glynne, Elle Eyre or Clean Bandit in terms of the pop-chops but there’s an attitude and edge to Howl that is perfectly represented by the lyrics to a song that is basically about not wanting to be the other woman in a relationship. I don’t do tips but if I did Chloe Howl would be worth a flutter for bigger things in 2018.
