When you’ve spent most of your adult life in one of the most notorious bands like, say, the B52s, it might come as something of a surprise when you haven’t had your own solo record so it’s about time Cindy Wilson did something about that. This single, ‘Mystic’, has a real 80s, Gary Numan vibe about the pulsing bass and clear synth lines but it’s Wilson’s clear, perfectly pop vocals that give this and edge of class. This fits right in alongside the likes of Goldfrapp, St Etienne and Dubstar but there are also flavours of the Human League about this which is just gorgeous. Soothing, classy and pin point accurate.
