MARTHA FFION - SINGLE REVIEW

Martha Ffion - So Long (Turnstile)
Martha Ffion - So Long

Release Date: Out Now

I know a number of people who would happily propose marriage to Martha Ffion based on her press photo alone. Whether she sings like a drunk TOWIE reject or a siren, this Glaswegian songstress has the look of someone would be at the centre of any party from the early 50s until the present day with aloof eyes but a kind smile. This latest single, 'So Long', is a gentle introduction with flecks of Tennis, Best Coast and a less angry Long Blondes alongside some 60s shimmies and guitars that beg to be heard through the medium of vinyl. Martha Ffion's voice is satisfyingly aloof but with that Scottish mid-Atlantic accent that speaks of hopes, dreams and long held plans to escape as soon as the opportunity presents itself. This is charmingly beautiful and encourages minimalistic dancing in the corner of a house party so I, for one, am entirely in favour.
