THE PINSTRIPE PIGEON BAND - SINGLE REVIEW

The Pinstripe Pigeon Band - Never Be Apart
The Pinstripe Pigeon Band - Never Be Apart

Release Date: Out Now

I don't get enough music from Preston these days so it was a treat to get the new single from 6 piece The Pinstripe Pigeon Band (awful name, by the way). The press bumph describes this new single as sounding like St Etienne and I get where they're coming from with that but for me 'Never Be Apart' has more of the Jess Glynn or Clean Bandit about it. A jerky, dubby rhythm is coupled with some key stabs and twitchy guitar to provide a kind of Massive Attack backdrop for Kirsty Harvey's superbly soulful voice to wash over like crystal clear waters on clean, golden sands. This is a song for the end of summer, one last walk on the beach with your holiday romance or that tear soaked coach trip back to Preston after a week in Camber Sands.
