THE SHIRES - SINGLE REVIEW

The Shires - Friday Night (Decca Nashville)
The Shires - Friday Night

Release Date: Out Now

Here we have a British duo who are helping to resurrect the legendary Decca Nashville label after years lying dormant. The Shires are a country-pop pairing and, if I hadn't heard different with mine own ears I would swear that their new single 'Friday Night' was the UK's entry in to Eurovision. Now don't get me wrong, I love a bit of Eurovision and there is a sweet, harmonious, catchy nature to this tune all about getting drunk at the end of the working week. There's just something almost too innocent about the song that gives it that slightly cheesy Eurovision feel. This is, in essence, the getting drunk part without the bitterness that comes with the horrible realisation of a hangover. Oh, to have those heady days again...
