STORNOWAY - SINGLE REVIEW

Stornoway - Get Low (Cooking Vinyl)
Stornoway - Get Low

Release Date: Out Now

I always a musical friend of mine getting whipped in to a frenzy about Stornoway a few years back. He (Chris) was absolutely convinced that they were going herald in a new dawn for music and some sort of revolution within the loins of the music industry. This never happened but the band have carved out a niche as one of the most respected and critically acclaimed bands in the UK. Ahead of an imminent album release, this new single 'Get Low' is a jauntily woozy piece of indie-pop that has the feel of The Thrills or Belle & Sebastian at their most rural. A generally strummed melody is embellished with some unexpected electronic bleeps and a hugely US friendly production quality that is straight out of the Killers' back pocket. Strangely, the video sees the quartet racing some geese along a airstrip in a convertible BMW whilst playing their instruments along to the song. Maybe Stornoway should be at the forefront of a revolution, I don't know, but they're pretty ace either way. Don't you agree?
