BILLY LOCKETT - SINGLE REVIEW

Billy Lockett - Old Man
Billy Lockett - Old Man

Release Date: 21st September 2014

There is something about the rich, pure tones of an unaccompanied piano at the beginning of a song that tends to give me a lump in the throat. Now add to that a smooth but impassioned vocal and lyrics about growing up without every feeling like a grown up. Yeah, this is a bit of a emotional one. Billy Lockett is a Northampton based singer-songwriter who is pitched finely between Billy Joel and Ed Sheeran and as combinations go that is fairly gold plated. Beautifully rippling piano notes are pushed along by a foot stomp reminiscent of Mumford & Sons to create a mood that is all about goodbyes, new beginnings and the verge of a new phase in life. Gorgeous stuff that is bound to slay mass audiences before too long, mark my words.
